In Winter’s Bloom
Winter slowly fades, the sun warms the soul…
February is a strange and unique time for me and this year is quite profound. It has been a visual journey this month, and what more to express these sentiments than with my camera.
For my birthday, my gardenia plant blossomed three times, and I love gardenias. Their scent takes me to an ethereal place, one of comfort and introspection. The cake my family brought to the dinner table was Raspberry Chocolate from the sweet Blackhound Bakery in the East Village, and I love their cakes. Made with love, just taste it, you’ll understand. The following night, there was a total lunar eclipse. One should look up to the sky everyday, no matter how fast the city moves. The Southern exposure from the island that day was one spectacular sunset with the midtown east skyline carefully drawn out. Illumination. Stillness.
Last Sunday, the bright sun baked my jewelry into hotcakes. A “biscuit” hammered pair of earrings went home to London, and “Lady” on a lucky horseshoe became Amanda’s favorite necklace, as she said “I totally get the meaning of this!” Yes, indeed, Miss lady luck! Take care, good people. A better world awaits us in 2008!
